Ya know....Philadelphia Magazine and others mocked these parents over racism and the whole bus the kids thing -- seriously Amy Korman led off her 2009 article with the following header:
Feuds: The Drama Club
If it’s not cell-phone towers in Gladwyne, it’s Ardmore’s makeover. There’s always something roiling the vodka tonics in Lower Merion. Right now, soccer moms are hot under their Tory Burch tunics over which (top-rated) high school their kids will attend
My my my Amy, marry all that lovely Korman money and suddenly voila! You belong? You know all? You are a real Main Liner? All I saw in that article at the time was something that seemed too fluffy for something so serious...and from what I have read in the papers? Well, suffice it to say darlings, the folks fighting racism aren't the Tory Burch Tunic Set.
So I wonder what Amy Korman is thinking today if she reads the paper? Because this very topic is front page news today. Add to that the whole I-spy-on-High SchoolVeroica-while-she-is-indisposed- thing....well, I would say Lower Merion Township is in the running for Most Fucked Up Main Line Municipality of 2010 --- last year was all Radnor's, but this year, well Lower Merion is a contender. So whatever, I think this is all rather distasteful and I have visions of school administration people and school board directors in secret meetings with matching cloaks of white...

Unsealed records: Race part of L. Merion redistricting
By Bonnie L. Cook
Inquirer Staff Writer
Court records unsealed in a federal case yesterday reveal that officials discussed race as an integral part of their work to create a 2009 redistricting plan for the Lower Merion School District.
The papers, unsealed by U.S. District Judge Michael M. Baylson, show memos, e-mails, and expert opinions mentioning race....In one e-mail exchange between Superintendent Christopher W. McGinley and consultant Ross Haber, McGinley asked whether it would be legal "if we split Ardmore for high school?"
Haber, who advises school districts on redistricting plans, replied that if the decision "was made based on race, the district would lose in court."
"The Supreme Court technically means," Haber wrote, "that we have to disregard race in our redistricting . . . but of course this only is an issue if someone sues the district, and I can't really think of a circumstance in which a citizen of the district would sue."
As for Blakey Robbins and his Mike & Ikes? Not sure if I buy it even if his parents are right about the webcams on laptops (and they are right on THAT at least). Can't help but wonder what this kid is really like and what will come out about the parents? They are bordering on Media Slutism. Mama Robbins needs to lay off the glycolic peels and plastic surgery for one thing. Dad needs a hair cut. Are they in this for a payday? Who knows? HOWEVER, no matter HOW this came out, it's good it did...can't help but wonder how many school districts use those webcams and microphones to spy on their kids?

If Lower Merion was smart, they would clean house and start over...but it seems first they are throwing a Vice Prinicpal to the wolves as the news is reporting this babe will be holding a press conference with her lawyers. Vice Principals don't hold press conferences with lawyers unless they are being thrown to the wolves do they?

Karen Heller: L. Merion paying a price for free laptops
By Karen Heller
...The U.S. attorney and FBI are looking into whether the laptop webcam usage broke any laws. For that, we taxpayers all share the bill.
So, what lesson does the MacSpy debacle teach us?
A. Understand privacy laws first, or end up supporting a courtroom of lawyers.
B. With just a few wrong moves, Lower Merion can go viral on the news, known for more than excellence, affluence, and Kobe Bryant.
C. Sometimes, even the region's smartest, richest school district can be dumb.
They should just get rid of all of 'em. But will it happen? LOL then someone would have to admit they were wrong in a school district...
