How About A "Greener" Audit?

Yikes, the Radnor Meeting was not so dull after all...the videos seem to be going up, but watching this as it unfolded last night was quite a lot of fun. Especially when it came time to talk about the Radnor Conservancy, Friends of the Willows Cottage, and Greener Partners. That always makes for good T.V.

There was discussion about grant applications and whatnot, but what I found most interesting was talk of some sort of meeting in I think December to discuss this first season at Skunk Hollow?

Honestly, I think the focus has gotten a bit skewed, and the focus should be on Greener Partners themselves, because I never saw such community divisiveness until they arrived on the scene, have all of you? So why can't everyone in RADNOR stop squabbling long enough, to take a look at what the commonality is: the commonality is Greener Partners, which is NOT a 501(c)(3) charitable organization is it? So they in a sense use true non-profits, don't they?

I did not like the fact that Radnor Conservancy pays the Greener Partners anything. I don't like that any of these true non-profits pay Greener Partners anything. If people are foolish enough to pay $800 and up for produce shares, that is individual choice, but I think that Greener Partners should be paying ALL these non-profits not leeching off non-profits.

So there is a meeting to be held in December? Tell Greener Partners to bring their balance sheets along. See what they are paying in salaries, etc. If our communities are supposed to be supporting them, or are proposed to support their efforts, it might be nice to see what is going on underneath the concept of CSAs.

Now, here is a comment that may not be popular, but last night something occurred to me watching two people from the public - Dan Sherry and John Nagle. I know neither gentleman, but it was apparent there is distinct animus between them. I don't think it needs to be played out in public any longer. They need to do their pissing on each other outside of public comment. Both blog, I watch it. That also is getting to be a bit ridiculous --- however it's their right to blog as they choose and that doesn't take up time at public meetings.

I have to also say that I was disappointed in of both of their behaviours at the meeting last night.

I do HOWEVER think that Dan Sherry has a lot of valid points, and John Nagle ended up sounding like a cranky old woman last night. And if John had just made his comments about that pork fund grant last night straight out without the sniping at Dan Sherry I would not comment. But he did snipe like a bitchy old queen and was also told by Captain Obvious Bill Spingler to sit down during Dan Sherry's comments. What is up with the control factor? Because if he thinks he is right and Dan is wrong, why act like a chicken that got it's tail stepped on? And squawk? If you are right, you are right - be confident in that and ignore the jabs.

Both of these guys need to take it outside, and John Nagle wants to be commissioner, right? Well he needs to get a grip because while he gets TOTAL kudos for being the one guy to stand up to the now former commissioner Lisa Paolino in that 5th ward, he is acting odd at meetings. It's like he has tourettes or something. Now I admit I only see what I see at public meetings, and unfortunately there are a lot of people like me out there. If John Nagle doesn't get it together, I think he will lose this upcoming election because of his behavior, not because he's the wrong choice. I look at it this way, there already are enough crank pots on the Radnor Board of Commissioners, aren't there?

But as for public pissing matches? Take it outside boys. Please. And when did public comment in Radnor Township turn into mini filibusters, anyway? But what up with the appointed 5th ward commissioner? Is he a mute? Did he open his mouth? Or is he just supposed to sit there and be quiet because his predecessor always sounded dumb as dirt?

Main Line Manners?

So the Saturday Club does these cotillion classes for the young, would that they had a class for the grown ups, right?

No not the Saturday Club grown ups per se, but Main Line grown ups in general. I mean, no wonder these people can't teach their kids manners, they have none themselves!

Seriously, I think it appropriate to take a minute to comment on where have all the manners gone?

For all the mocking one CAN do (and I delight in doing), it would be delightful to NOT have to mack the lack of manners and civility along the Main Line. I am just talking common courtesy here, nothing special.

Let's start with DOG POOP. Don't mind me, I don't mind stepping out of my car in Wayne to step in DOG POOP as I try to feed the meter that someone tried to CUT IN FRONT of me for even though I had my turn signal on (I applied horn blast as it was situation appropriate). Seriously, I understand that it's SO HARD to pick up crap with a plastic bag. Yes, I know that concrete in a public parking lot look so much like your back yard. Go ahead, stroll Wayne with Fifi and leave her "pearls" all over.

And what ever happened to apologizing for running up the back of some one's leg in the grocery store with the cart?

Why do you need to have THAT particular conversation on your cell phone in the check out line at a store?

Did you have to beat that person out for the traffic light? And then give them the finger?

Please, bump me again at a party, and no, of course I don't mind that red wine you spilled all over the back of my dress.

And in restaurants, hi, if you are drunk, that is special only for you - all the surrounding tables truly have no interest.

No, I wasn't holding the door open so YOU could shove through, I was holding the door for that nice old lady in the wheelchair and her nurse.

Will you get to heaven faster if you cut in line at the movies?

Please, feel free to reach over me at the register at that sweet little boutique as I am checking out so you can SCREAM as the poor counter clerk - neither of us mind at ALL.

No, nevermind, we can continue our conversation another time - I love it when you text and take phone calls as we are speaking. I understand you are like Michele Obama important.

SERIOUSLY, The New Main Line is full of the rudest possible people and what is worse, we are all allowing it. Now, I have taken into account that everyone has a bad day occasionally, but truth moment is I have seen way too many of the same people do repeat bad behavior.

Another favorite of mine? Remember when you USED to go to a non-profit benefit and the people you went to support on the various committees used to be gracious and charming? Would say nice little things like "thank you for coming out to support our cause". HOW often does THAT happen any more? And I think especially in this economy, if someone buys a ticket and attends your stupid event that they really don't care about but they did it as a friend, say THANK YOU. Or send them a little thank you e-mail, or better yet CALL them and say thanks.

But no, not on the Main Line. On the Main Line they are still all about the stampede to pose for society photos...but then again, for half these babes on these committees, that is all they do anymore is shove into photos.

Now, one of my favorites is Opening Night of the Philadelphia Orchestra. That used to be truly snazzy, but like the Academy Ball has morphed into the clubhouse for the ignorant and the surgically enhanced. Of course now, we have people texting in black tie at these events..HELLO put the cell phone away! You are not that important and I have no desire to see the glow from your lap.

And oh my gosh, don't forget the "green" cyclists who seem to think that diving in front of your car at the Wayne Farmer's Market is a MUST DO. I mean seriously WTF? I don't want you and your spandex pants as a hood ornament, sir - you aren't wearing my colors.

What else do I love? People that have to SCREAM to each other from across the room. Damn lady, I see you have two perfectly good legs, just go over there and please, use your inside voice.

Ahh, if were only Regency England and life were a Jane Austen novel. Politeness was expected. But on the Main Line? Rudeness is tolerated.

I say let's start a revolution. If you think someone is an ass, just tell them. Damn the consequences, they don't matter anyway.

Note 9/30/09 Apparently this post has struck a chord with many people? There are already a few comments. One today from a poster who calls themselves "liz" deserves to be up in the body of the post - I agree with you liz and thank you for saying it:

ooh! ooh! and how about The Saturday Club itself, agreeing to do volunteer work for A Good Cause but only if they can do the Exact job they want to do! On the New Main Line, volunteering is not about doing good for others, but dressing up to show off. Makes me ashamed.

The Saturday Club is a beautiful building that indeed houses a twisted sorority these days. And they are cliquish as in high school-ooh-I'm-getting-my-period cliquish. There are some very nice members, don't get me wrong, but that is not what you get full frontal of. The first impression is that majority junta who are just snotty.

The irony of course is that when the Saturday Club was first founded, they were in a sense "activists" of their day. Now the majority are just plain bitchy and that totally bums me out, because that is indeed the New Main Line Effect, except given the pretense, perhaps that is New Main Line Affect? You don't have to be a Diva of Rude to be noticed on the Main Line...Oh well...you also don't have to be all big bug eyed in society photos hoping people don't notice you have a buzz going on, either.

And liz honey, while they might dress up to show off, no worries, half of them are true fashion faux pas...

Speaking of Whacking it in Wayne, The Wackos Have Arrived!

Oh goody, Wayne is being visited starting today by the freaks at 40 Days for Life because they want to protest at Planned Parenthood in Wayne. I hope they all end up in jail. I bet Stupid Schneller will be there given these little items in church bulletins:
So yes, even though people like Scheller are like a case of PMS, they will never have it, never get pregnant, etc. Hell, does Schneller even work or have a family? I mean who are these people to tell all women everywhere what to do with their lives and their bodies? And no wonder people are leaving the Catholic Church! They put this HATRED in parish bulletins? These people are supportive of the people that murder doctors and blow up clinics? What is wrong with them?????!

Anti-abortion activists begin campaign
Thursday, September 24, 2009
By Dan Kristie

WEST CHESTER — Anti-abortion activists are holding a 40-day campaign outside Planned Parenthood on South Wayne Avenue.

The event, which is being coordinated by 40 Days for Life, a national organization, started Tuesday with an 8 p.m. ceremony held outside Planned Parenthood.

On Wednesday, the advocates began taking turns standing in the facility's parking lot, holding signs.

They said that for the next 40 days, they will have at least one person standing outside Planned Parenthood between the hours of 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. The activists said they will take hour-long shifts.

Uta Trogele, of Easttown, had the 3 p.m. shift Wednesday. She said her goal is to compassionately let women know they have options other than abortion.

"I'm trying to appeal to them in a loving, caring way," she said. "A lot of these women are lonely and are not sure where to turn."

She held a sign containing the contact information of organizations that assist women who are dealing with unplanned pregnancies.....The West Chester 40 Days for Life demonstration is now in its third year, demonstrators said.

Southeastern Pennsylvania Planned Parenthood CEO and President Dayle Steinberg said that trained escorts are available to accompany people coming to the West Chester facility who feel intimidated or threatened.

Steinberg criticized the activists for not recognizing that Planned Parenthood provides birth control services that help cut down on unwanted pregnancies.

"No organization does more to prevent unintended pregnancies and the need for abortion than Planned Parenthood," Steinberg said. "If these extremists are truly worried about women and families, they would work with PPSP to increase access to affordable birth control and comprehensive sex education."

I hate these people. I am sorry but I do. There is nothing Christian about them. They are evil. Support Planned Parenthood. They deserve it.

If you see these people tell them they are jerks. Actually, scratch that - they want to engage in pointless conversation, so just flip them the old fashioned bird. They have no right to dictate a woman's right to choose ANYTHING.

Ok off for a massage....

Police Briefs/Main Line Media News:Disorderly conduct
Police arrested and charged Wilmer Antonio Ramos, 21, of Wayne with disorderly conduct and open lewdness Sept. 16 at 1:48 p.m. at Louella Court in Wayne.

According to police, an officer on patrol spotted Ramos sitting on a bench in a parking lot masturbating.

Ramos was taken into custody without incident and District Judge John Tuten set his bail at $1,000 unsecured.

So basically, this guy was like playing with his hot dog outside Johnnie's Dog House or something? Ewww, and then there was this police brief:
Public drunkenness

Police cited Cubrien Smith, 37, of Philadelphia with public intoxication and public urination Sept. 18 at 4:23 p.m.

According to police, officers were called to Lancaster Avenue near Eagle Road on the report of a disorderly black man in traffic wearing black clothing.

When police arrived, a man fitting the description was using a light pole for balance and urinating in the street, police said.

Smith was arrested, put in a cell and at 2:30 a.m. was given a courtesy ride into Lower Merion.

Gentlemen please, when not at home, keep the little fella in your pants.

Homeowners Can't Get No Respect in Tredyffrin?

So I was looking at the local paper online earlier. And there is this article about people in Tredyffrin who can't seem to get any respect from either Tredyffrin's Board of Supervisors or the Tredyffrin Police or oh yes, drunken off campus college students?

Sweet. Nice to know that residents matter, eh? Nice to know you can count on the police? Well, I have never heard nice things about Tredyffrin Police, so I can't say I am surprised.

Housing concerns continue
Published: Wednesday, September 23, 2009
By Blair Meadowcroft

A major concern that was brought to the table at Monday night’s Tredyffrin Township Board of Supervisors meeting surrounded the continuing complaints that areas in the township are slowly transforming into “college dormitories.”

Residents with data and pages of documented information got up in front of the board to voice their concerns about college dwellings that are, in their opinion, taking over their neighborhoods. According to residents, 17 college dwellings have been documented.

“These homes that are being rented to students are causing issues with drinking, noise, parking, speeding and garbage,” said one resident. “They are hurting our property values.”...As the discussion was coming to a close, a local landlord who owns property in the area got up to give his insight on the issue.

“I think that creating an ordinance that would keep students from renting would be discrimination,” said Roger Kent. “I’ve been a landlord for 20 years and I’ve had less issues renting to college students than to other previous tenants. As a landlord I’d like to know what I can do to help.”

Ok, Roger Kent, you are a jackass. Where does it say homeowners have to baby-sit college students? What do you do for the communities where you have your rental proerties? WHO is this guy?

This kind of goes with a topic raised recently in Radnor about the return of tailgating. Enrique Hervada, who should just shut his mouth since he went to the school and obviously can't be impartial, did not seem to see a problem with this? I have friends close to Villanova University who were already ready to sell their homes to get away from the school who are totally ready to bail now.

Love this Villanova editorial online:

EDITORIAL: Finally, it's time to tailgate
9/10/09

Tailgating, that annual autumn tradition at colleges around the country, has finally returned to Villanova.

The Athletics Department has announced that for $20 per car, per game, fans can tailgate before football games in Pike Lot. This privilege has been long overdue to return to Villanova and will serve to fill one of the only holes in 'Nova's school spirit.

Years ago - before any of us were 'Nova students, tailgating was wildly popular - too popular, in fact, which is why it was stopped. Since then, the rowdy crowds have given way to the more intimate tailgate setting in the Pavilion parking lot for Blue/White Alumni members.

While school-wide tailgating was canceled, football attendance suffered. It was a shame, too, especially in recent years, as the 'Cats have fielded a strong team. Even last year when the team made the playoffs, the attendance remained low; without the tradition and fan base that tailgating creates, students never really warmed up to football....Public Safety will ask tailgaters to leave who remain in Pike Lot during the game. That's a smart move, because it will get more people into the game and stop the festivities from becoming disorderly. The University understands that drinking will happen, but that the game, not getting drunk, is the main event.

Not only will tailgating drive up student interest in football, but it will become a gathering place for families, alumni and area residents to create a strong culture around Villanova football.

Oh yeah right--- they say no one will watch football without beer inducement that comes with tailgating and they expect us to believe the game is the main attraction?

Stupid Human Tricks

We are ready to "find you a find." Let our expertise help you rescue without the worry—by finding a dog that is right for you from local shelters - wow, what a concept? Dog rescue for the lazy?

You know, I think animal rescue is awesome, and I love places like Francisvale and Main Line Rescue - no kill shelters and truly large-hearted and non-profit. Francisvale is 100 years old, did you all know that?

Anyway, there are these for profit dog trainers Out & About, and they are saying they are starting a new arm called Main Line Mutt Match?

So they are the rescue dog concierge service for lazy Main Liners? Or is this like the used car evaluation by the neighborhood mechanic? They kick the legs, err tires for you? WTF?

This is bizarro land. And if you are rescuing a dog and making a donation to a shelter, then you are racking up the fees with these dog match makers too? it just seems like a way to make money off of shelter dogs and I think that is well...shitty.

Of course, if you want good dog training, I hear the best is Mary Remer at "What a Good Dog".

But as for this other bunch? Dog Selection & Temperament Evaluation Counseling? Pshaw, sounds like more stupid human tricks to me.

What, we can pay them a few hundred dollars to bargain shop for rescue dogs in shelters? How nice. I think I will pass.

OH NO! Say it Ain't So, Brother Joe?

LOSER ALERT! LOSER ALERT! Many thanks to WRITEMARSH BLOG for breaking the bad news: Yes, it's true, Joe Hoeffel is running for Governor...ARRRRGHHH!

A vote for Joe is a vote for stupidity. O.K., now I said it, I feel better. He sucked as a Congressman, from what Writemarsh says he has made Montgomery County worse than it was before. Can't this guy get a real job? Oh no wait, this is Pennsylvania, of course not. In Pennsylvania politicians are the new charity cases.

Radnor Daddy Needs An Apron?

Hmmm, I wonder if these guys saw the high school age tartlets dressed provocatively waving people into the Radnor Fall Festival yesterday?

Honestly, this is quasi embarassing, and you know what? If there are so many stay at home dads, why don't they fill the various vacancies on Radnor Township Boards and even run for commissioner?

But seriously, perhaps this guy gets a golden apron for being brave, because I don't know many men who willingly put it out there that they have diaper and dishwater duty and the little woman brings home the bacon...anyway if you are a dad with nothing to do check out Main Line Stay at Home Dads on Meetup.

Live From The Radnor Opera House

Oh my aching head! The drama! The intrigue! It's a bad opera in real life. There might not be an opera house any longer, but hey, Iven Ave could double as one, right?

First you have the 5th ward, summed up nicely on Philly Foibles under Ernie Shapiro in Radnor’s Fifth Ward and written up in the paper:

Radnor appoints interim commissioner
Published: Wednesday, September 16, 2009
By Sam Strike

(And no, I am not doing an excerpt of the article, click on it yourselves)

See the video from the meeting where this was done here:

Ok this Shapiro guy. He can say what he wants, but no one gets put up in that ward as a Republican without a little "engineering". Whatever.

Now one of his supporters who got up provided me with much amusement. A girly man named Grossman. First of all, last time I saw such a tan it was on the dearly departed Loeper. Secondly, oh my god that man sounded like a girl. I was waiting for him to twirl a ponytail or something.

And then let's talk about Enrique Hervada ok? He was such a jackass throughout the whole meeting. Ignorant with a capital "I". Can't wait until he's gone. He'll be missed about as much as a case of poison ivy.

Now I don't know what happened with the Nagle guy, but tourettes outbursts aside, he has been the only one who really gave a crap about that ward throughout the Paolino years. No matter what else that says something.

Ok enough about that, let's talk about what Philly Foibles is saying? About another investigation on the down low in Radnor?

Don't believe me? Check it out here in a post titled "Oh Yeah We Got Trouble"

Who called them? Osborne? Is it true? What does it mean? Did Bashore change his identity and run away yet? Any Bashore updates? Can I snark him a job reference? Is he flipping burritos at the Taco Bell?

Ok, well, I saw a couple leaves today fall onto the street which means that leave- your-leaves-in-the-middle-of-the-road-for-weeks-season is upon Radnor Township soon.

Outed La Ronda Wrecker Kestenbaum Hires G.O.P. Spin Meister Jubelirer?

Oh how sweet! What's next? An in-person visit from Sarah Palin? You know I have not mentioned La Ronda much, because honestly, I know little about the whole issue. But I have been observing the circus for a while, and yes, can concur on one point with outed La Ronda Wrecker Joseph Kestenbaum - it IS a circus, and you sir, have basically caused it.

........So this guy hides for months like a pussy with a wallet behind a cadre of lawyers and now seems upset he were outed? What? Can't go to all the benefit events now or something? Kestenbaum and Kania seemed motivated by the Society Page Factor or something?

Ok dumb asses, what did you think was going to happen???? The Main Line loves a juicy story, and face it honey, you both are the best story since Michael and Cheryl Pouls and Baldwin, or maybe since another Main Line gal named Susie Tabas attacked the help with organic carrots...or pick a scandal of your own choosing.

But there is Kestenbaum, who must be a good Republican foot soldier, and who has he hired? Jeff Jubelirer? HA HA HA! Will Dick Cheyney arrive too? Sarah Palin? Will you add Bruce Castor to your rosters? COME ON. You invite snarkiness in your life.

Dude, you want to tear down a remarkable piece of architecture - not because it can't be updated and modernized, but just because you want to.

And if Special K didn't want a circus, why is he the Kestenbaum Cowboy in that photo from the Inquirer? And in a black hat no less? How truly, deeply ironic.

And that Kania? Well he's retained a publicist with a familiar name too, hasn't he? Jay Devine I think?

Face it, no one will ever look at any of you the same again over a nice glass of bubbly at a black tie affair, will they?

It always comes down to the who's who and who wants to be where on the magic ladder, doesn't it?

La Ronda buyer decries 'public circus'
By Derrick Nunnally

In his first public comment since being identified as the buyer of Bryn Mawr's historic La Ronda mansion, Joseph D. Kestenbaum yesterday fired back at the "disingenuous" outcry and "public circus" over his plans to raze the castle-like villa.

"The fact is that there is no one interested in providing the finances necessary to preserve La Ronda," Kestenbaum said in a statement issued by a public-relations firm, which acknowledges he is behind the corporations that purchased the house....
Kestenbaum, whose statement was distributed last night by spokesman Jeff Jubelirer, also asked "the community to do the right thing" and cease efforts to stop him from razing the structure, which he can legally do Oct. 1....On Monday, longtime La Ronda owner Arthur J. Kania said, with the aid of his own public-relations firm, that Kestenbaum was the home's buyer. The news turned a suburb's long-running historical preservation debate into something of a personal affair for Kestenbaum, a Plymouth Meeting-based investor who bought La Ronda using a corporate name nearly seven months ago.

Tennis Decorum Anyone?

So tennis is now a gangsta sport?
Serena to Line Judge "I'm Gonna Get You Sucka" ?
Unbelievable - I was actually watching this and first of all I hate the grunting noises made when tennis players serve - on female athletes it reminds me of the orgasm scene in the movie "When Harry Met Sally". But this gangsta does tennis? Very distasteful. Tennis, like golf, is supposed to be one of those civilized sports. What is she? The T.O. of tennis?

Tennis Diva, anyone?

Serena Williams Fined; Suspension Is Possible
By DAVID WALDSTEIN
Published: September 13, 2009

Serena Williams was fined $10,000 on Sunday for her tirade against a line judge at the conclusion of her loss in the semifinals of the United States Open on Saturday, and may face more penalties, including a possible suspension from next year’s Open.

Williams, who has already earned $455,000 for singles and doubles at this tournament, was fined $10,000 for unsportsmanlike conduct and $500 for racket abuse, which occurred earlier in the match, by the tournament referee, Brian Earley. The $10,000 was the maximum fine that could be levied on site.

Additionally, the administrator for the Grand Slam Committee, Bill Babcock, has opened an investigation into the incident. If that investigation determines that Williams committed a major offense, she could be fined all the money she earned at the tournament and suspended.

Serena Williams Loses Match, Temper At U.S. Open
AP/ABC News
Published: September 14, 2009

New York—It was an expletive-laden tirade that cost Serena Williams the semi-final match and her chance to defend her U.S. Open title.

At match point, against unseeded Kim Clijsters, Serena Williams was faulted by the line judge for her foot going over the line during a serve. Williams then turned toward the judge and verbally threatened her.

Serena Williams: “I am going to take this (beeping) ball and shove it down your (bleeping) throat…“

In the confusing minutes that followed, the judges gathered to discuss what happened. Williams protested.

Williams: “I didn’t say I would kill you, are you serious???“

But, the tournament referee sided with the line judge and Williams was penalized a point. Since it was match point, she lost.

Afterward, Serena said she wasn’t sure what she’d said in her outcourt tirade.

Williams: “What did I say? You didn’t hear?“

But, she unapologetic: “Well, I said something, I guess they gave me a point penalty, I guess it was on match point…“

And, blamed what she said was a pattern of judges calling foot faults on her during the tournament as the root of her outburts.

Williams: “I’m not going to sit here making an excuse, it was what it was, and that’s basically all I’m going to say.“

The Today Show Sucks

Ok, I am tired of pretending: the Today Show sucks. It's like watching the National Enquirer on T.V. It's for those with gnat mentality, and I think it is insulting as hell to the intelligence of the average American. There is no news, only drivel.

I used to get irritated when Kewpie Doll Couric was nit picking with Six Pack Cross Dressing Lauer, but at least she has a real nose for news. Now we have Game Show Queen and View Reject Meredith Viera. Who woulda thunk it, but I wish Bryant Gumbel would come back....and Matt Lauer does the tranny thing too well. If I was his wife I would lock my underwear drawer and hide the Manolos....

Can I also just say, Meredith Viera is even more annoying than Kathie Lee Gifford and that is saying something? And she's so incredibly stupid to boot. She is the real impetus for this post. She is freakish. She makes you want to throw things at the television screen....

And Al Roker? Why his contempt for all shows clear as a bell. He's about as funny as Kayne West.

Poor Ann Curry, the only credible news person in a sea of mind numbing idiots.

Kanye West is Wife Beater Ignorant Isn't He? (Verbal Abuse is Still Abuse, Right?)

"Taylor, I'm really happy for you, and I'm gonna let you finish, but Beyoncé had one of the best videos of all time"

Kayne West needs to be banned from publicly televised events. He made a scene at the VMAs. And I think he is a racist. Everyone knows have fabulously talented and beautiful Beyonce is, but she can't win everything, right? But Taylor Swift won something, right? So Kayne is off his meds again and he thinks he can apologize after the fact?

I say no dice. Time to ban Kanye from publicly televised events and he should be boycotted as well. Personally I am sick of his message of hate about everyone and everything...especially those of other races, creeds and colors.

And of course he apologized after the fact. He always does for his outbursts - only since societally (is that a word?) we don't believe the remorse defense from wife beaters/domestic abusers, should we believe it from Kayne? After all isn't there a thing called verbal abuse?

Kayne West is not such a great talent, and he is ignorant as hell. This is my only comment on the topic as Kayne West is not and should not be news.

Crime Spree of One Hits Wayne?

This one needs an "intervention". (Or maybe she needs her passport to Wayne revoked?) Now I don't know the chiquita who may be a little bananas. But she has definitely piqued my curiosity because I realized while reading the paper that this chick's name was familiar. So I went to the Main Line Suburban Life website and plopped her name into their search engine. Sure enough, this is arrest number FOUR in like a month and a half, maybe a little more?

What the hell is WRONG with this girl, and doesn't she have a family that gives a crap about her? Nevertheless, she is keeping Radnor Township Police hopping, and it seems like a concentrated area, so what does THAT mean? And every police brief seems to list her as living in a different place?

ahem....it's MY blog, remember?

Ok time to revisit the rules: this is MY blog. Not yours. If I don't like a comment, I am going to say so...If I like a comment, I will say so too....and of course I can always choose not to publish comments I don't like although I rarely do that....

But again....come on now...eyes up front...school is back...

This is my blog. So if you want to come out and play please do, but if you whine because I call you (basically) a turd faced birther, well get yourself on back home to yo' momma.

Are we clear now?

Healthcare.

Ok, I keep getting this link left in anonymous comments. At first I ignored it because I can't post everything....then I took a minute to watch it. You all should too.

They're Burning Up The Wires in Radnor...

Honestly, I think PhillyFoibles has this covered...and what they don't have is undoubtedly being hashed out at SAC.

I am not going to go over in minute detail a play by play of what other blogs are saying, here is what I think: all politics in Radnor is simply retarded.

Oh my gosh golly, get the politically correct acceptable behavior police after me now because I think the Radnor Democratic and Republican parties are NUTS. Neither party wants to listen to the average person. They have their ivory tower ideals and are ready for the looney bin.

You fools spend a lot of time worrying about blogs and discussing blogging when you should actually be talking about things that matter. Get thyselves a reality check.

Radnor is a political cesspool. And it will continue to be because no one has any balls to do anything other them talk about bloggers.

Brian Tierney Sez: "Keep It Local = Keep Me Employed"

He can't pay the newspapers' bills, but he can pay for a self serving ad campaign?

So shocked I tell you! So shocked! (As if)

All hail the master of spin! All hail the Glorious Tierney God of all Omnipotence! Impotence? Self-importance? Delusional?

Please....Just SHUT UP Brian Tierney.

Philadelphians are sick of your nouveau riche pomposity and pretentiousness. Everything monogrammed, probably including the toilet paper, oui? (HA! Where are those ride the duck people with those obnoxious yellow whistles when you need them?)

You are spending gobs of money on a "the boogey man is gonna gitcha sucker" ad campaign and I say stop the noise. The best thing that could happen to the future of Philadelphia newspapers is for you to be retired like yesterday's bobble heads at a Phillies Game. (And with that noggin of yours, honey you are a made for bobble head moment, aren't you? Can't you just see every dashboard in the greater Philadelphia area with a little Brian Bobblehead nodding away?)

Brian Tierney, if you really love the newspapers, step away. Go away. But don't presume the public is so stupid as to blindly drink your brand of BS. We're not. You are spinning out of control. This is not about the future of the papers, it's all about you, and quite frankly I don't give a damn what happens to you. I just want to read a decent newspaper again. You don't cover enough and when you do cover something these articles are written by no name reporters that write so poorly you wonder where they came from and it's no wonder more people are turning to blogs. Meanwhile, the voices that made the newspapers grand, the people that made us feel involved in the news, leave or are "retired". Or they get buried somewhere only surface once in a blue moon. Even your real estate ads have gone to hell in a hand basket and I don't think it's just the economy.

What happens if you stay at the paper? You hire more second rate reporters like those new names we keep seeing (which keep replacing names that really meant something), you give yourself a raise and bonus and what do we get? Filtered news that reads like a very dull press release? Ugh.

PHILADELPHIA WEEKLY NEWS AND OPINION
Brian Tierney Takes Ad-vantage
Playing the "keep it local" card in the fight for Philly's newspapers.
By Joel Mathis

It’s come to this: Brian Tierney needs you to save him from his own failed management of the Inquirer and Daily News.

That’s the upshot of the suddenly ubiquitous “Keep It Local” ad campaign in those papers and on Philly.com: Tierney, the old public relations master, hopes that scaring the public about the perils of bean-counting out-of-town ownership will inspire a groundswell of grassroots support—in the form of an online petition, always a reliable gauge of public sentiment—that will convince a bankruptcy judge to let him stay in charge.

If he’s forced out, the “Keep It Local” campaign suggests, the Daily News will be shuttered and the Inquirer gutted into a fancier version of the Metro.

“Are you ready for a weakened news gathering force led by a management group with little or no connection to the place you live your life?” one ad warns.

Sounds awful. Too bad Tierney—the local owner—has already weakened his newspapers through layoffs and cutbacks, or the argument might have more force. But that’s not really a great sales pitch: Local ownership! We’re bad, but it could be worse!

Maybe it’s time to bring on the out-of-town bean counters...Local ownership, it seems, doesn’t always serve a community well....But the Inquirer ’s editorial pages are now blessed with overpaid and discredited right-wing hacks like former Sen. Rick Santorum and torture advocate John Yoo.

Tierney has made a series of other bad choices. Like taking a pay raise and a $350,000 bonus right before the newspapers went into bankruptcy—and right after employee unions had agreed to give up their own raises. The newspapers also paid $50,000 to a company co-owned by Tierney’s son, Brian Tierney, Jr.—an online marketing company that, bizarrely, didn’t have a website of its own. It’s that type of appalling judgment which suggests Tierney cares less about serving the community and more about feathering his own nest.

Dave Bashore in a State of Denial?

Ahhh, too funny. Apparently PA Dept of Labor and Industry thinks Bashore made enough money?

Radnor defeats Bashore unemployment claim
By Sam Strike

Former Radnor Township manager Dave Bashore was denied his claim to unemployment compensation earlier this week after a third party found him ineligible because he had been terminated for “willful misconduct.”

The township had to meet that burden of proof, which it set out to do at Bashore’s hearing last Tuesday in front of Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry employee Thomas J. Green, called a “referee” in this case....Green wrote that if Bashore did not think he was responsible for informing the commissioners of the lump-sum bonus payments to himself of $15,000 or more, “this is a violation of the standards of behavior that the employer has a right to expect of an employee, particularly an employee who sets financial specifics for the township.”

Green notes that while the term “willful misconduct” is not defined by law, numerous board of review and court decisions have defined it as “an act of wanton or willful disregard of the employer’s interests, a deliberate violation of the employer’s rules, a disregard of the standards of behavior that the employer has a right to expect of an employee, or negligence indicating an intentional disregard of the employer’s interests or of the employee’s duties and obligations to the employer.”

Bashore’s attorney, Ronald Surkin, said of the decision, “We are disappointed with the referee’s decision as we think he did not give proper weight to certain undisputed evidence that we feel conclusively shows that Mr. Bashore did not engage in willful misconduct. We intend to appeal the decision to the Unemployment Compensation Board of Review.”

Hmmm, maybe it is time for Radnor Township to add attorney's fees to any litigation against Bashore, ? The taxpayers don't have a bottomless checkbook after all, correct? Hopefully Radnor won't settle to push this all under the rug like a big old dust bunny, right?

And speaking of Radnor's board of commissioners, check this out:

Radnor commissioners to appoint interim member
By Sam Strike

The Radnor Township Board of Commissioners will appoint an interim Fifth Ward commissioner at its Sept. 14 meeting to temporarily fill the seat of Lisa Paolino, who resigned last month after a decade on the board.

The appointee, chosen by majority vote, will serve until November’s election, in which an elected replacement will serve the two remaining years of Paolino’s term.

Would-be appointees are presented and voted on in a public meeting....Two of the current Board of Commissioners first reached their post by appointment before wining a subsequent election.

One current commissioner was denied appointment but later won in election; another did not seek an appointment and won the seat in a subsequent election.

Paolino, who this year missed about two-thirds of the Board of Commissioners’ meetings, including two that were significant votes on the fate for the township’s former manager, resigned August 17.

I bet they appoint a Mimi Auchincloss hand stamped lap dog, don't you? Also, didn't the divinely delightful and dearly departed 5th ward commissioner first make it to office on an appointment? I was told that so why wasn't it in the article?

Whateva' as the kids all say. Radnor is a big snarly mess. And the residents will pay for it no matter where they stand on the issues. And the problems ALL stem from years and years of residents not wanting to really see what is going on, let alone talk about it.....my,my,my...this Delco Drama is ramping up again just in time for fall. Perhaps the new color for fall will be red as in Radnor is in the red? Or red as in the bloodbath/bloodshed continues?

Fa la la la...I am going to the beach....maybe a seagull or two will have the answers....

With All This Talk of Saving Old Mansions, What About Ardrossan?

Seriously, with all this talk about that La Ronda, what of Ardrossan? Because in the end, will the heirs of the world famous estate be any more caring then the vultures at La Ronda? When is the last time we heard anything about Ardrossan? Is the Scott family keeping the house up, or is it rotting too? What does the future hold for Ardrossan?

And let's talk about La Ronda for a sec. This demolition doesn't have to happen, does it? Or is it happening because some people with a serious style emergency want to flex their checkbook?

La Ronda is a bit imposing, doesn't have the same grace as Ardrossan, but never the less...what a waste. The Inquirer wrote on La Ronda today...the article is called "Way clear for salvage, demolition of historic manse". It is kind of a blah article.

Past media reports talk of Arthur Kania, god's gift to Villanova Law School? Hmmm, would that be dad of partyriffic Arthur Kania, Jr of local golf lore? Interesting. And the purported owners are supposed to be another K name? Ugh. To pretend to be to the manor born...to pretend....all those folks involved need a good social shunning. THAT will hit the poseurs where they live....they might be rich, but that doesn't mean they can buy what's right, huh?

Losers.
