Paris v. Palin

Sorry, but I am betting my lip gloss on Paris Hilton on this one. Here's a woman honest about who she is and what she's about. Can't say the same for the aw shucks barracuda named Sarah Palin.

People seem surprised that I can't get all warn and fuzzy over a political opportunist like Sarah Palin just because she's a woman. No can do. Women are set to even higher standards and Sarah Palin represents that crazy, crazy, out of orbit right side of the GOP that is basically threatening to topple the "grand old party".

Sarah Palin is qualified to nothing except spawn, and as a woman, I don't vote for women because they can spread their legs and get other people to pay for their wardrobes. In the olden days they would have been what? Mistresses? Courtesans? And now we want a back woods courtesan sprung out of backwater nowhere to be 2nd in command of this country? Gimme a break, gimme strength and pour me a drink! (And while you're at it stop telling me what my right to choose is as a woman. It's my body and this argument has stayed too long on political podiums and pulpits. Just like Sarah Palin can choose to spawn, and can tell her preggers kid to get shotgun married and not stress the importance of being her own woman, I think I should be able to choose what is right for ME. And I should not be foisting that right or thought process on any other woman. My body, my rights. Their bodies, their rights)

See more funny videos at Funny or Die

I know several, more highly qualified hockey moms. If that was the route John McCain was going, well, he could've met some of them. And if McCain thinks he would be able to control Palin any more than Bush ever might have thought he could control Cheyney, well I pity the fool.

Of course this whole election is comprised of three things: the politics of extremes, aspirational voting, and retribution voting. People say they are going to vote for change no matter how they vote, but are they really? And if the Republican Party wants to stay in business they had best snap out of it. the Jim Gerlachs of this party are too few and far between.

Senator Obama is a cool cat, and he gets it. But as much as the idea of Sarah Palin and the cult following her scares me, so does the cult following Barack Obama. What place does the average American have amidst the cults?

And why can't people just say WHY they are afraid of Obama? It's not because he's new, it's because he's black. We should stop seeing color in politics as our country is a melting pot. How are we ever to get past racism, reverse racism, bigotry and payback politics if we don't? Why can't we all be big enough as Americans to embrace the differences in all of us? It's kind of annoying me just like the impending season of "Happy Holidays". I celebrate CHRISTMAS, many celebrate CHRISTMAS, so why is it we can wish people "Happy Chanukah" amd "Happy Kwanzaa", yet we can't say that one word Christmas?

Screw political correctness. We are black, white, red, brown, yellow, pink, blue, and every shade and religion and culture imaginable. We need to embrace ourselves as Americans and get on with it. And no matter WHO wins the election, we need to get out and vote and vote for the right reasons. And after we vote? We need to stay involved in our own country and our own destiny. We've left too much up to the politicans, and look what a pickle we're in?

I say enough...and that is why in a weird way, I would respect Paris Hilton more as a candidate than Sarah Palin. Now read all this:

New York Times Op-Ed Columnist
A Choice and an Echo
By BOB HERBERT
Published: October 27, 2008

It seems to have taken forever (the seasons have changed, and changed and changed again), but this long presidential campaign is finally coming to an end. In January, with snow blanketing the trail in Iowa and New Hampshire, I wrote of the Barack Obama phenomenon: “Shake hands with tomorrow. It’s here.”

I didn’t mean that Senator Obama would win the election. He still seemed like a long shot to me. But it was clear that the message, style and strategy of his campaign pointed to a new direction for American politics, and that a new generation of voters — younger, smarter, more diverse, more open-minded — was anxious to follow his lead....This election is hardly over, despite the impulse of the pundits to write the McCain campaign’s obituary. But Senator McCain has diminished his chances of winning the presidency in many ways, the most important of which was his failure to grasp the most significant new trend in American politics.

With the country facing enormous problems (even before the meltdown of the credit and financial markets in recent months), the voters wanted more substance from their candidates. They wanted a greater sense of maturity and a more civil approach to campaigning. They were tired of the politics of personal destruction and the playbook that counseled “attack, attack, attack.”

Senator Obama was perfectly suited to this new approach. He told the crowd that trekked through the cold and snow to hear his victory speech at the Iowa caucuses:

“You said the time has come to move beyond the bitterness and pettiness and anger that’s consumed Washington. To end the political strategy that’s been all about division, and instead make it about addition. To build a coalition for change that stretches through red states and blue states.”

John McCain didn’t get it. He seemed as baffled by the new politics as an Al Jolson aficionado trying to make sense of the Beatles....Mr. McCain must never have noticed that the public turned overwhelmingly against the Bush administration because of its repeatedly demonstrated incompetence. Now here is Senator McCain, in the midst of a national crisis, with a running mate who is demonstrably incompetent to serve the nation as its president.

Ms. Palin is a walking affront to the many Republican women (not to mention women in general) who are, in fact, qualified to hold the highest office in the land.

John McCain could have traveled a higher road. He chose not to. He bet instead on one last gasping triumph of the politics of the past.

AMEN to that...now read on...

Palin Goes Rogue
FOD WIRE | October 29, 2008

VP Candidate Sarah Palin has officially went rogue. Late last night the candidate went dark, and is now off the grid. After disabling her campaign jet's engines she jumped from the floundering craft's emergency door, improvising what's been termed a "pradachute" from her high end wardrobe to descend safely into the pine forests of South Carolina.

Nobody knows for sure what her plans or capabilities are, and authorities worry that her folksy recycling of McCarthy-era fear mongering will enable her to form a hyper-nationalist state that is tentatively being called Real America; the name AAAmerica has also been suspected, as it would appear first in the phonebook.

There have been early rumors that Real America will have 3 hour National Anthems before 4 minute baseball games. Schooling will be 50% national anthem and 50% abstinence education. Palin may also recruit doctors that sympathize with her now unfettered philosophy. All medical treatments will be based on the bible, and medical research will only be sold at adult bookstores. Those bookstores will be fire-bombed daily.

Without handlers acting as control rods in the fiery cauldron of ideas contained within Palin's head, experts fear an ideological meltdown.

A nationwide search continues....

If You Think Toxic Boob Roggio is BAD For PA, Raise Your Hand!

Yes indeedy! I feel Bob Roggio is a BAD choice for Congress. He has NO experience. He shipped jobs OUT of PA when he sold his company. He's just another tacky bored rich dude who wants to play politics.

And yes, I have to thank my courageous commenter from yesterday's post for the idea of this post. (and for the cute little YouTube!)
I mean besides the fact that "Toxic Bob" needs some manscaping with that furry caterpillar on his forehead, do we really want a guy representing us who is not only environmentally unfriendly but undependable as far as meetings go AND who uses fuzzy logic with regard to office space and "in kind" contributions? And this guy can't follow the rules with regard to billboards, signage, etc? And his election volunteers had a policy of go forth and terrorize and be generally rude and tell me again why anyone would wish to vote for this guy? I mean why would a millionaire pay below market rate on office space if he could afford to pay normal rent? Isn't that kind of dishonest? Pennsylvania doesn't need MORE politicians like Boob Roggio, Pennsylvania needs FEWER politicians like Boob Roggio.
Bob Roggio is PIGGY Politics at Work. Just Vote NO to Roggio.

RELEASE: Gerlach Campaign Files Complaint with Federal Election Commission; Roggio Continuing to Break Election Law 3 Different Ways

PA-6, some fact and some fiction, signal a heated raceBy Dan Hirschhorn, PolitickerPA.com Reporter

I am proud to be a BOB BASHER. Come on, bring it you wusses. I'll publish your comments...no worries...

I just feel that people need to know that it is O.K. to vote a la carte! You can choose your next president from one column, and your congressman from another. Only idiots pull a straight lever because politics is not an exact science and a one size fits all hoodie. Express yourselves. Vote for whom YOU believe in. (Of course, that is why I AM voting for Jim Gerlach even if I am NOT voting for John McCain. John McCain lost me at hello when he chose Sarah Palin.)

Monday, October 27, 2008

Dear Bob Roggio, I am a REAL Voter and I think you SUCK.

Ok, I am a fairly modern sort of gal, so what annoys me more than anything? When a little insignificant twit accuses me of being a man. Darling, I might have brass balls upon occasion, but I have all the female body parts (without augmentation and botox,I might add!), and I also have the claws to prove it.

So a pal sent me this thing on PolitickerPA.com:

Casey, other Dems stump for RoggioBy Dan Hirschhorn

And what made me almost deleriously happy is someone out there actually reads what I write and there were these 3 comments posted:

Dumb Roggio posted by Anonymousin6th :
Bob Roggio is unethical, uneducated, and an all around jerk. I have been following him and he won't be getting my vote.

For another perspective on him, see this post someone e-mailed me this morning:

http://justsnarky.blogspot.com/2008/10/vote-gerlach-not-roggioyou-cant-a...

And I won't be voting Leach after the above comment. If he is PRO Roggio, I won't vote for him.

And Casey? He's only in office because people voted for Anyone But Santorum

Get a hold of yourself, Anonymousin6th posted by Adam
I've known Bob Roggio for years. He's smart, a good family man, and above all a nice guy. You might as well call Santa Claus a jerk. It's obvious that you know nothing about Bob Roggio.

I'm not surprised to read the above post, however, because I assume it was posted by a Gerlach Campaign staffer. Anyone who follows politics in this state knows that Jim Gerlach runs the most mean-spirited smear-based personal destruction campaigns in Pennsylvania. Despite their endorsement of him this year, the Philadelphia Inquirer has regularly recognized Gerlach as one of the most dirty campaigners in the Philly media market.

Shame on you, Mark Campbell (whether this poster was you or not), for smearing another good person just for challenging your boss; instead of running a campaign based on the Congressman's record or plans for the future.

Bob Roggio posted by Jannie
Mark Campbell doesn't speak for the voters in 6th district of PA, especially those of us who are independent minded in Chester and Berks counties.

Jim Gerlach, as a matter of fact, has NOT run a particularly negative campaign, and how is the truth smearing Roggio?

Roggio is a lightweight with more money than sense. There is enough of that going around DC and PA already.

Never underestimate the power of voters. Adam you are a neurotic jackass whom I assume works for Roggio?

So, I guess Mark Campbell runs the Gerlach campaigns? Ok, well, I am NOT Mark Campbell. I am my own woman and no one tells me what to say or when to say it. I have written about Jim Gerlach because I believe in Jim Gerlach and I think he deserves and has earned the right to stay in Congress.

I do not want someone in Congress with the values of Boob Roggio and it pretty much IS that simple. So , Adam, and whomever else? Grow a pair of REAL balls and roll up over here and say something obnoxious to my face/my blog.

But don't you DARE intimate that some man is telling me how to think and what to write. I write primarily for my own pleasure, and if others share my views, well then it's a party.

I do not like Bob Roggio. I do not respect Bob Roggio. I think Bob Roggio is as big a mistake as Lois Murphy the great pretender was and I think Bob Roggio has the potential of being worse then Marjorie Margolies Metzvinsky. (and when speaking of her, don't forget the fruit loop she was/is married to, Former U.S. Rep. Edward Mezvinsky)

Here is some of what I have written about Roggio and Gerlach. If you don't like my opinion, well bite me.

Bob Roggio You Ignorant Horse's Patoot!

Boob, errr Bob, Roggio Speaks

Saturday, October 25, 2008

Priceless!

Vote Gerlach Not Roggio...You Can't Afford It

Bob (or Boob like some prefer to refer to him)Roggio is a liar and there is a lot about him we don't know, and much of what we DO know he would prefer that we didn't. Yep, Bob Roggio is a guy who was neither seen nor heard until recently. Bob Roggio is a case of what you don't know CAN hurt you.

And I am here to say today that no matter who you choose for President, whether it be Obama or McCain, you can and should vote for Jim Gerlach.

Jim Gerlach has served the 6th district much more capably then his predecessors - Joe Hoeffel in particular comes to mind - when you dealt with Joe, you really didn't deal with Joe, you were dealing with his staff who were always looking for the next best opportunity for themselves (much like whatdayaknow Joe himself).

Jim Gerlach takes the time for his constituents, and nothing is too large or too small. We all matter, and not just during election season. Jim participates in community activities throughout his district and advocates for his constituents in DC. He does not care how you're registered to vote, he takes care of people. Family values aren't corny when you are talking Gerlach, because he is just that kind of guy.

He has proven himself to be a moderate, and the only time any of us remember him really missing anything is DC is when his mom died, and well, we all need to grieve when a family member passes, right? And Jim's mom made him the great guy that he is, raising Jim and his siblings in the face of adversity? Of course, during that time when Jim Gerlach's mom died was when we first saw what an unfeeling, uncaring stupid ass Bob Roggio was, wasn't it?

Bob Roggio is a man who made his money off the sweat of the lower income set, and when he had sucked as much out of his workers as possible, he sold his company and took 500 jobs or more out of Chester County, PA, 500 jobs. Boy, in today's economy, 500 jobs sure could make a difference, huh? The only reason Bob says he is for the average Joe is because Bob Roggio likes to take advantage of American workers then dump them for profit like yesterday's prom date!

Seriously, it IS true: As an owner of Zenith Products in the mid-90s, Roggio paid a majority of employees minimum wage, sold out to a corporation who then moved 500 jobs out of Pennsylvania a year later. So yes, the toilet bowl king took his profits and flushed his workers down the toilet. I don't know about you, but I do not need King Turd running around like Mr. Whipple in Washington, do you?

And in Charlestown, when Bob Roggio was on the Open Space Committee, he missed close to half of the meetings he was supposed to attend. Can we afford to have a guy in Congress who is only half there in times like these? And Boob Roggio pretends to be green and caring about the environment, yet his former company was toxic to the environment, pumping all sorts of crap into the environment for years. Do we need a guy in Congress who potentially wouldn't mind if his constituents glowed in the dark? Are you comfortable with a man whom according to the EPA allowed his company to pump 245,368 pounds of toxic chemicals into our environment?

So he is also best buds with some dude who is kind of corrupt named Charlie Rangel? Wow. And I love Michael Moore, but if he is endorsing Boob Roggio it's (a) because Michael is endorsing Obama and everyone else by default, (b) Because Boob Roggio threw some money at him as a film maker - after all isn't it a well known fact that film makers never have enough money?

And how can we trust Bob Roggio to take care of American workers when he has been the subject of an unfair labor complaint case?

Bob Roggio is against the Patriot Act. So I wonder if he is against the Patriot Act because it means even millionaires like him have to disclose information in order to have bank and brokerage accounts? I doubt it has anything to do with terrorism. If he doesn't like the Patriot Act it is probably purely personal: he doesn't want people to really know about him.

Bob Roggio is just Lois Murphy with outside plumbing and money. We don't need to send a bored millionaire ass to Congress - there are enough of that ilk in DC already.

Vote a la Carte this November, and remember: We Don't Need Bob Roggio. No one does.

So don't listen to the lies and "fire Gerlach". Tell Bob Roggio to pack his bags and go buy another Congressional District. Tell Bob Roggio that PA is not for sale. Check out the real Bob Roggio, and like some of my neighbors have done already, throw out his lawn signs.

I might NOT be voting for McCain, but I WILL be voting for Jim Gerlach. He's what we need more of in Washington. I think Bob Roggio is an ass (as well as super creepy with that mono-brown wooly catepillar on his forehead), and his campaign reflects him perfectly. Dump Roggio now before he gets to D.C. We don't need another bored noveau riche jackass running around.

Middle Aged Mean Girls: A Fine Main Line Tradition

Did you think that mean girls were just for tweens and teens? Au contraire mes chères! On the Main Line, they abound amongst the table hopping, house hopping, SUV driving middle aged set. They think they are oh so high society, but alas and alak there was only one Grace Kelly, one Hope Montgomery Scott, one Katherine Hepburn...but it sure has spurned on a fresh season of wannabes on an annual basis, hasn't it? Every year there is a whole new lot to contend with as they literally shove you out of society photographs (personally, I gladly step aside because it's not as important to me as it obviously is to them).

So I have this friend. A lovely woman with equally lovely children. She lives at a respectble Main Line address in a highly desirable zip code. She doesn't have a mean bone in her body and is generous and loving to a fault. She is the first person at your door if you are having a bad day, or need a mommy break if you have just had a new baby, or if you are simply not feeling well. She is one of these people who welcomes new families to town that she encounters them. My friend is just one of those lovely women we all wished we could be when we grow up.

Well, Dear Heart as I shall call her has had a close encounter with the upwardly mobile kind: i.e. she has been dissed by a back stabbing social climber.

Now when I first met this battleship (and she is as big as a broad side of a boat so we shall call her HMS Social Climber), I was suspicious. Not because she was new, but because she had this fake Alice through the looking glass thing going on, and well, I wasn't buying what she was selling.

So she did this whole poor me, hubby always working, I am new in town with two kids, take me under your wing thing, and well, my friend Dear Heart fell hook line and sinker and helped launch the HMS Social Climber. Big mistake.

So she introduces her around, and that includes at the elite private school where she and the HMS Social Climber have children...she introduces her around at other things...the HMS Social Climber becomes an NBF gets on ballet committees, gets involved with a dinosaur of an Orchestra committee (one that is failing, incidentally), and so on.

All of a sudden hubby of HMS Social Climber starts tossing a couple bucks around, et voila! They are in.

But the thing about HMS Social Climber is as soon as she's has sucked out all she needs from people like the great succubus that she is, she dumps you. So she did this to my friend. Dear Heart deserves better, and that is what I told my friend. I reminded her that this was a person tossing monopoly money around when the truth of it was she only rented her desirable 19010 address. I also told her that sooner or later the tide was going to turn on the HMS Social Climber because she simply doesn't have the staying power. The harder they climb, the faster they fall.

So HMS Social Climber, my eye is on you and I realize what I am writing is more the stuff for Brooke De Villanova, but I can't resist. After all, how pathtic is this wannabe to think she would earn brownie points by shopping cub scout packs? Those den mommies are no dumb bunnies....you can't try out the packs in one town and get your teeny son upwardly mobile and push your broad ass into a more popular pack in another town without getting found out, can you? No you can't, and well sooner or later....they'lll figger ya out too...

And speaking of figgering out, what man eater is back in town for a try at number 4? Yep, she burned bridges got number 3 the old fashioned way and left town. Only number 3 saw the light and the man eater is back in town working on someone else's soon to be upscale ex? (Number 3's mommy is undoubtedly breathing a sigh of relief, right?)

If she comes around for a cup of sugar ladies, show her the door. And if you see her at a soiree, check your beloved's pockets for her phone number when you come home. She's inappropriate that way. Of course, if I was this dancing soon to be 3 time losing divorcee, I wouldn't get photographed without a bra from now on....or at least until someone else's honey gave those "girls" an uplifting experience....low hanging Semi Homade Sandra Lee udders are not attractive...

Mind you, they are not the only Mean Girls on the Main Line...they start out as cheerleaders in high school attached to football players, and often end up attached to politicians as adults...or sugar daddies, take your pick.

The Ultimate Wardrobe Malfunction: Sarah Palin's Free Clothes

Wow, who knew that when I was getting those e-mails stating for only like $5 a day I could defeat the "evil other" (err that would be Democrats, dolls, like little old retired Annabelle who lives across the road), I had no idea it was code for "Please send us money, Sarah Palin needs a makeover".

But apparently it does. Yep, all you dumb ass RNC faithful, YOU are paying for Sarah Palin's new wardrobe. Yep to get from where she was to where she is cost what? $150000 and counting? How can I get that deal? I saw some things at Neiman's and Bendel's I would LOVE to own. Can I run for VP too on the gotta be a moonie-moose shooting-tundra gal ticket? Who knew?

In all seriousness, if these politicos can't dress themselves then our money shouldn't either. People are starving, out of work, losing their homes, and cutting back, but the RNC is paying big bucks to make over Sarah. There is a simple solution: stop donating to campaigns. Sounds good to me.

Freakin hypocrits. Check out the AP photo below - Caribou Barbie is dressing just like Mommy McCain. Leather and all....

Palin Shopping Spree Legal? Yes, but Barely
Loophole Lets Party Purchase Wardrobe the Campaign Could Not
By EMMA SCHWARTZ
October 22, 2008

When news broke that Gov. Sarah Palin and her family managed to spend $150,000 of other people's money on clothes after joining the McCain ticket, many scratched their heads. Is that legal? Thanks to a loophole in federal law the answer, experts say, is yes.

Handily, the loophole was codified into law by the landmark campaign finance law passed by her ticketmate, Sen. John McCain.

It would be illegal for the McCain-Palin campaign to buy a new wardrobe for Palin and her husband, say campaign finance lawyers contacted by ABCNews.com. But the law is silent on whether such purchases can be made by the Republican National Committee (RNC). ...Some have still raised questions about whether the Palin wardrobe purchase is legal because it was made as a coordinated expenditure, a type of purchase done by a political party directly for a campaign and subject to monetary limits each election cycle by law.

While largely the Federal Election Commission hasn't applied the personal use restrictions to coordinated expenses, some lawyers say should be.

Tanning Bed to Troopergate: Palin Aides Kept Scrambling
Questions About Tanning Bed in Governor's Mansion -- Sends Aides Scrambling

Lunchtime Snap: Sarah Palin’s $150,000 Designer Wardrobe

Sarah Palin clearly upped her fashion quotient after being nominated as John McCain’s running mate.

It turns out that the Republican National Committee spent $150,000 in September on clothing, hairstyling, makeup and other “campaign accessories” for Ms. Palin and her family, according to federal financial records.

The tab included $50,000 at Saks Fifth Avenue and $75,000 at Neiman Marcus.

Sarah Palin's Flameout: $150,000, the Vice Presidency, Sinking Poll Numbers, and More
October 22, 2008 01:49 PM ET | Robert Schlesinger | Permanent Link | Print

Years from now, Sarah Palin may be the perfect case study for a political shooting star.

First she was a rock star, someone happily capable of bringing life to a moribund McCain campaign—someone who could rev up the base and maybe pick off a few Hillary Clinton voters.

Then came the dark times—the Gibson interview, the Couric interview, Troopergate, the debate in which she breezily refused to actually answer the questions. The "Hockey Mom" charm wore off quickly as she grasped the vice presidential pit-bull role, bringing it to new levels of divisiveness with comments about "real America" that even she acknowledged were, ahem, unhelpful.

But the dark times are over. That brilliant flash you see? Sarah Palin flaming out. Or exploding. Or crashing and burning. It's been that kind of week for the Alaska governor.

Let's count the hits she's taken in the past 24 hours:

There's her $150,000 wardrobe. It's hard to run as Joan of Six Pack when your wardrobe alone almost qualifies for an Obama tax increase. (Even when you're a millionaire, anyway.)

Even Michael Smerconish Can't Support a McCain/Palin Ticket

Bravo Smerconish, Bravo. Yep, even Smerconish is Bailin' on Palin. They are going to be sayin' that Michael Smerconish has drunk the kool aid. Why? Because the big talker with the short stature and the chrome dome, has broken away from the GOP and proven that he IS and independent thinker. Bet he isn't sporting one of those billboard sized McCain-Palin signs, or one of the pink pussycat McCain-Palin signs, huh?

Yep, Michael Smerconish says he's going for Obama.

Good for you Michael, I respect you for being able to stand up and say "I can't do this blind devotion thing any longer."

Oh MY GOD! I bet there was an emergency meeting of the Republican Bund....Tracy Specter political wannabe wife of Darlin' Arlen's son Shanin has now probably forbidden Shanin to go out and play with Michael ever again or else he's grounded, huh? Them being best buds and all? Or is Tracy spending all of her time charging $5.00 a lawn sign to what is left of the Republican Faithful in Montgomery County? Yep, she thinks she's being so slick charging $5.00 a sign hasn't she noticed that the folks in Lower Merion are just going to other non-charging municipalities for those lawn signs?

Oh MY GOD! They are going to take away his lifetime GOP membership card over this one!

Head Strong: McCain fails the big five tests
His aim is untrue in too many areas, so a longtime Republican is voting for Obama.
By Michael Smerconish - Inquirer
Inquirer Currents Columnist

I've decided.
My conclusion comes after reading the candidates' memoirs and campaign platforms, attending both party conventions, interviewing both men multiple times, and watching all primary and general-election debates.

John McCain is an honorable man who has served his country well. But he will not get my vote. For the first time since registering as a Republican 28 years ago, I'm voting for a Democrat for president. I may have been an appointee in the George H.W. Bush administration, and master of ceremonies for George W. Bush in 2004, but last Saturday I stood amid the crowd at an Obama event in North Philadelphia....Last Saturday at Progress Plaza, I heard Obama say: "The American people aren't looking for somebody to divide this country; the American people are looking for someone to lead this country."

Well, Michael, how does it feel to be liberated? Bet it feels good ----Please note I have mailed his column to every single one of the McCain toting aspirational voters I know in the hopes they will stop sending me how to be a GOP Moonie in five easy steps (and for only like $5 a day or something).

If Michael Smerconish can have the chutzpah and balls to admit Obama is his choice, what's next? Mmmm, mmmmm, mmmm this is finally getting interesting....will Michael Smerconish become the next Joe Hoeffel and become a Democrat?

Smerconish: I'm for Obama

Michael Smerconish lit up the phone lines and filled his in-box this morning at his WPHT show with word that he's planning to vote for Barack Obama -- marking the first time since he registered to vote 28 years ago that he'll pull the Democrat lever for president.

He'll explain all in his Sunday column in The Inquirer's Currents section -- as much as he can do in 750 words. The intro reads: "John McCain is an honorable man who has served his country well. But he will not get my vote."

In a chat this afternoon, Smerconish acknowledged that most of the callers and e-mails were scathing, capping months of criticism that began when Smerconish invited Obama to speak on the air. "They never wanted me to welcome Obama in the first place," he said. In the spring, Smerconish announced that if he were a Democrat, he'd prefer Obama over Hillary Clinton.

Smerconish's associations with John McCain date back years. I remember a Smerconish "book club" appearance with McCain at the Downtown Club in December 2005 that was a veritable love-in for the Arizona senator.

Smerconish also acknowledged that this "coming out" might hurt his career nationally. He's been a frequent guest on and fill-in host for big names such as Glenn Beck and Bill O'Reilly -- both of whom wear their conservatism loudly and proudly.

All joking aside, I respect the crap out of Michael Smerconish for taking a stand. He has a lot to loose, and he has shown great courage. Bravo, Smerconish, bravo.

Wachovia is Like a Leaky Boat...It Needs To Plug the Holes

Hmmm...should I be taking MY political advice from a Wachovia broker all things considered? Can't believe this dude even has a job at this point...Of course he is claiming he didn't do it or something silly, right? I can't believe that the corporate e-mail at Wachovia doesn't prevent this drivel from being sent out, can you?

INTERESTING DATA JUST RECEIVED ON TAX PROPOSALS

Wachovia Employee Reprimanded for Political Email
Robert D. Jenkins of Wachovia Bank was officially reprimanded by the bank for forwarding a political email with erroneous information about the Presidential candidates' tax plans.
As we get closer to the 2008 Presidential election, the viral propaganda about the candidates is increasing. The latest example involves an email with inaccurate information about McCain's and Obama's tax plans that is now spreading across the internet. The email comes at a time when Wachovia is struggling with financial trouble brought on by the economic crisis and was in talks with Wells Fargo and Citigroup for a buyout.

Mr. Jenkins is employed by Wachovia as a Retirement Planning Counselor and those who received the email mistakenly believed it had been authored by him. The original author is still unknown.....

Under Obama your taxes will more than double! How does this affect you? No explanation needed. This is pretty straight forward.

INHERITANCE TAX

MCCAIN 0% (No change, Bush repealed this tax)

OBAMA Restore the inheritance tax

How does this affect you? Many families have lost businesses, farms and ranches, and homes that have been in their families for generations because they could not afford the inheritance tax. Those willing their assets to loved ones will not only lose them to these taxes. NEW TAXES BEING PROPOSED BY OBAMA

* New government taxes proposed on homes that are more than 2400 square feet * New gasoline taxes (as if gas weren't high enough already) * New taxes on natural resources consumption (heating gas, water, electricity) * New taxes on retirement accounts and last but not least.... * New taxes to pay for socialized medicine so we can receive the same level of medical care as other third-world countries!!!

Thank You

Reserve Funds "Broke The Buck"

Broke the buck means YOUR non FDIC insured money market is below the sacrosanct supposedly unwavering $1 per share. And the Reserve Mutual Funds have done just that to MILLIONS of U.S. Investors.

If you want to call that Bruce Bent (He's the CEO might as well start at the top) here is how you do it:

To call Bruce R. Bent 1-800-637-1700 - hit 6 - press 1 - dial by LAST name BENT "Burce Bent" - you get Bruce 1 and Bruce 2. Pick your Bruce.

Then go right to the SEC and file a complaint

Three Reserve money funds 'break the buck'
BOSTON, Massachusetts (AP) -- A soured investment in Lehman Brothers Holdings Inc. debt slashed two-thirds of the asset value of the oldest money-market fund in the United States, exposing clients to losses despite investments in a financial product seen as a safe haven even in volatile markets.

The sudden setback at the Reserve Primary Fund caused it to "break the buck" -- leaving investors unlikely to get back all the cash they put in because the fund failed to maintain assets of at least $1 for every dollar invested.

After announcing the Primary Fund's troubles Tuesday night, the fund's manager, Reserve Management, said Wednesday that two other smaller money funds also had broken the buck: Reserve Yield Plus Fund, and Reserve International Liquidity Fund, a fund available only to offshore investors.

The Primary Fund's woes marked just the second instance of breaking the buck in the nearly four decades-long history of money funds, which started in 1970 when the Primary Fund ushered in a popular way to invest while keeping money readily available if needed.

The fund's troubles are expected to heighten anxieties of investors seeing fewer safe places to sock away cash. This includes money-market funds that have collectively grown to $3.5 trillion in assets because of their conservative reputation compared with riskier investments such as stocks.

"The Primary Fund was really the pioneer in the industry, so this is not only a big problem for that firm, but for investors," said Lawrence Jones, a mutual fund analyst at research firm Morningstar Inc.

Several money fund firms Wednesday issued statements trying to reassure investors. One of the biggest, Vanguard Group Inc., posted a statement on its Web site saying it "continues to manage its money market funds very conservatively and with extreme prudence, focusing on the highest-quality short-term money market instruments."

A "Wink" Away From The White House: Scary Sarah

I was amazed and intrigued as I watched Sarah Palin look like Bimbo for Vice President Last Night. Between winking at the camera, her "shout outs", and the amount of hairspray and lip gloss, I was mesmerized that this tw*t could be a heartbeat away from the White House.

So Sarah, did you have something in your eye, or were you doing another form of "shout out"? OH Silly Sarah, PLEASE STEP DOWN NOW!

Doggone it; Sarah Palin did pretty well in the first and only Vice Presidential debate.

She did not commit a gaffe, was clearly well rehearsed, and said a lot of the things she needed to say, portraying herself as the hockey mom she is, representing the Main Street folks in Wasilla, Alaska.

So why couldn't I take her seriously?

Perhaps it was because she was too well rehearsed, repeated the same phrases again and again, or it may be that the very innocence she presents as a political outsider--one of her strengths according to Republicans--is also what makes it so difficult to envision her as a political insider, an equal partner with the United States President, and wielding the gavel in the United States Senate. The gee whiz quality of her presentation made it clear that she actually was thrilled to meet Senator Joe Biden, was "honored" to be there. A warm smile, a perky voice, and yes, a certain likability are attributes, but these qualities are not enough to project her into the Vice President's chair, and possibly, the President's.

I continued to feel that she was acting the part of the candidate. Fake it until you make it is what women are often told to do in many challenging circumstances. She faked it well, but I'm not sure she made it. At times she seemed like Pygmalion who was taught to pronounce the words correctly. It worked on one level, but if you were to uncover it, there would be no second layer.

Armed Robbery in Wayne, Radnor Township...

Another sign of the times? An armed robbery in the heart of Wayne? Sure makes you feel safe, huh? I am guessing this is one of the gas stations JUST before the center of towns? The gas stations just a short distance from residential neighborhoods? This is yet another reason why we don't need all these 24 hour a day 7day a week establishments in our towns! They are just asking for trouble!

Daily Local : Police seeking gas station gunman
09/30/2008

Radnor police are seeking the public's help in identifying and locating the gunman responsible for a gas station robbery Sunday.

About 4:30 a.m. the gunman entered the Sunonco A-Plus in the 300 block of East Lancaster Avenue where he demanded cash, police said.

Police have described the suspect as a white male between 30 and 40 years of age, roughly 6 feet tall with an average build. Additionally, the subject had wrinkles around his eyes and had a Filipino accent, police said.

Police said the subject was seen wearing blue pants, a black hooded Adidas jacket with white stripes down the sleeves and Adidas written on the front in white letters, a black ski mask, black gloves, black shoes and brandished a black hand gun. The robber left the store on foot with an undetermined amount of money, police said. No injuries were reported.

Anyone with information is urged to contact the Radnor Township Police Department at 610-688-0500.

Boob, errr Bob, Roggio Speaks

I'm Boob Roggio, who are you?
Well, well, well, whaddya know? Toilet part salesman Boob Roggio, once again is not only a Waffle King, but sounding more dumb that ever. Well Boob, you are just that: a class "A" Boob from Nowheresville. Am I thrilled that Congress did not pass the bailout on first go round and the market dove 777 points? No, of course not. But I also have been alive long enough to note that there aren't any "do overs". I respect for Jim Gerlach over this, and both Republicans AND Democrats voted "no" on the first pass of this bill. Gerlach wants more dealt with on executive compensation (i.e. making sure golden parachutes aren't so golden when these high level executives skate for greener pastures), along with some other stuff that should be added into this bill, to protect us, the Average Americans. He wasn't voting "no" just to vote "no", but he's smart enough to realize that we have to be wary of edicts from the Bush White House - after all this President is the guy who was given a baseball team and managed it into the ground...then an oil company...then the rest of us. Many of us voted for him once and even twice probably due to his lineage and family leagcy. Only George II is not half the man George I was.

I think Boob Roggio (like his new first name?) is a total douche bag who ought to be selling Mooseburgers in Alaska along with Caribou Barbie. And I love the article in the Philadelphia Inquirer by Nancy Peterson - Nancy must really hate Jim Gerlach because she has made it her raison d'être to only write about Jim Gerlach when it's something nasty. I always wondered for the last two election cycles who she was writing for and working for, and once again, I wonder.

Gerlach ripped for opposing bailout
By Nancy Petersen
Inquirer Staff Writer

The day after U.S. Rep. Jim Gerlach (R., Pa.) voted against the $700 billion financial bailout package, his Democratic opponent called the vote "derelict" and lacking courage.

"He deserves to be fired," said Bob Roggio, a retired small-business owner from Chester County who is running for the Sixth Congressional District seat. "This proves he cannot handle the business of America."

Roggio said he would have voted for the bill and accused Gerlach of political posturing. Gerlach is seeking a fourth term in a district that spans four counties and stretches from Lower Merion to Reading.

Gerlach's campaign manager, Mark Campbell, said Roggio's comments contradicted what Roggio said last week, when he was quoted as being skeptical about the bill...A spokesman for Gerlach said that as of 4 p.m. yesterday, his offices had received 232 calls critical of his vote and 182 supporting him.

The refusal by a majority of the House to back the bill triggered Monday's 777-point drop in the Dow Jones industrial average.

In defense of his vote, Gerlach said in a statement on Monday that the bill did not go far enough in reining in executive compensation and correcting the mistakes that led to the financial crisis.

He said Congress should take the time to craft a "financially responsible plan" that restores the confidence of investors, consumers and the markets.

Supporters of Roggio, who joined him on a conference call with reporters yesterday, said that as small-business owners they were beginning to see the effects of the tightening markets and the credit crunch.

Hmmm, very interesting commentary coming from Bob Roggio. Why? Because if he was so concerned about keeping people employed in his district, etc, why did he sell his company to an out of state firm which took thousands of jobs away from people in PA?

Inside Today's Bulletin
Gerlach Campaign: Roggio Flip-Flopped On Bailout
By Bradley Vasoli, The Bulletin
10/01/2008

U.S. Rep. Jim Gerlach's, R-6th, of Berks, Chester, Montgomery and Lehigh counties, campaign said yesterday Democratic opponent, Bob Roggio, flip-flopped on the failed $700 billion financial-industry bailout.

Gerlach political director Mark Campbell seized upon comments Mr. Roggio made in Monday's Bulletin, in which he was "skeptical" and "really not convinced" of the wisdom of passing the measure. It failed Monday on a 228-205 bipartisan vote in the House of Representatives, by which time Mr. Roggio was supporting it.

"There is a consensus among rank-and-file members on both sides of the aisle that we can and should do a better job on a financial rescue plan," Mr. Gerlach said in a statement explaining his opposition to the bailout. "That's why I am calling on my colleagues to get back to work as quickly as possible to pass a financially responsible plan."

Mr. Roggio criticized Mr. Gerlach for voting against it.

"My opponent, Jim Gerlach, voted against the rescue package," he said in a statement. "I think his action was derilict [sic], and I think he deserves to be fired because he cannot handle the business of America."

Mr. Campbell said the Democrat's comments before and after the bailout's failure amount to a total policy reversal.

"I guess because no one is paying attention to the Roggio campaign, they have made political calculations that they can get away with these complete and total changes in policy positions when they see an opportunity to attack," he said. "The voters are tired of the politics as usual, which is why they continue to elect Jim Gerlach who has been named one of the most independent Republicans in Washington."....Mr. Campbell said the bill did not change subsequent to Mr. Roggio's expressions of skepticism and therefore he did not remain consistent. He then criticized the Democrat for selling his Zenith Products Corporation to a Michigan company, moving about 500 jobs out of his region.

"He has about as much in common with working families as a pig does with a rodeo cowboy," Mr. Campbell said.

Oink, oink Boob Roggio...the pig seems to fit
