So Sunday I am taking a walk and I see a police car roaming around, followed by one of my neighbors. My neighbor stops and asks if I had seen a small white dog running loose, that she had called the police after it had almost become road pizza. So the dog was a tiny Bichon Frise, which as a breed are slightly hyperactive because most Bichon owners don't exercise them enough - they see small and lap dog, but not reality.
At the end of my walk as I am coming down a neighboring street, I pass a house. A woman is out in pajamas, bed head and slippers on her front steps calling for a dog. (It was 1:30 p.m.).
She says to me:
"You seen a little white dog?"
Ah yessss...standard English to go with slovenly demeanor...."you seen"...
Yes, I replied. About an hour ago, followed by a police car and residents trying to catch it before it gets run over.
"Oh" She says standing there looking not kind of, but entirely too stupid for words.
This woman seemed utterly unconcerned that her dog could be dead by this point in time. And did I mention her yard is NOT fenced in on a very busy street?
People like that should not own dogs. I hope that dog is o.k.
